Bicycle riding-racing-repairing 101 plus a lot extra! I've been riding, racing and working in the bicycle industry for 40+ years. I'm a USAC category 1 road racer and daily bicycle commuter. I like tools, making tools, working on and modifying things, problem solving, creating, bicycles, hot rods, metal fabrication, welding, woodworking, building and making furniture and anything else that seems interesting, WHEW! I also like making videos about all this stuff, and have different playlists for most of these topics.
I'm a bicycle mechanic by trade, but I've learned many a task on UA-cam, and feel like it's only fair to pay it forward with the content I'm knowledgeable about or still just learning as well..

90's MTB 3x8 to 1x12 Wireless Electronic?!?
In this video, I run through the process of updating older, worn components to modern electronic components. Some may see this as blasphemy, but the owner wanted to keep riding the bike, but didn't want to go on a long journey of trying to find Shimano XTR components from the 90's. The owner really liked the way the SRAM AXS Eagle performed and felt, so we decided on a GX AXS group with a NX 11-50 12 speed cassette that is a direct bolt on to any Shimano 8, 9, or 10 speed HG style cassette.

So, I Tried Waxing My Chain
Переглядів 7636 місяців тому
In this video, I decided it was time to experiment with waxing my chain to form a valid, honest opinion on chain waxing. The experiment is still ongoing, but well after 1000 miles, I'd say my opinion has definitely changed. This is a little list of some of the products I used that may make your our experience easier to navigate: Silva Secret chain wax: amzn.to/3RvO3mF Crock Pot 1.5 quart slow c...
Is Road Tubeless Worth It?
Переглядів 1,2 тис.8 місяців тому
I feel like I'm definitely in the minority here, but I want to discuss tubeless setups with narrow, high pressure tires. It seems as though it's taken over in most all bicycle categories, and I think it's definitely the way to go for mountain bikes, and gravel for the most part as well, but things are not always what they seem if you have a chance to see what kinds of things I see on a daily ba...
Testing The New Shimano Crank Recall Diagnostic App
Переглядів 2,1 тис.9 місяців тому
The Shimano 11 speed road crank recall is downright confusing to owners and bike shop technicians alike. What if there was a simple app that could quickly and easily give you a definitive "GO or NO GO" response? Well, we got our hands on a prototype App that does all the legwork for you! Our first test was a successful failure! Just kidding! This is just a fun Theramin app: apps.apple.com/us/ap...
1977 Peugeot Resto Mod Project

I started this project at the peak of Covid in 2020. My world has been through many changes and challenges since then. There were a few random parts I needed, and finally acquired, but this bike has been on the back burner for far too long. I basically rebuilt the bike with a mix of modern and original components. The parts that are new are: The tires, rims, rear brake cable stop, brake cables,...
5 Quick And Easy Ways To Tell If Your Shimano Chain Is A Counterfeit Before You Install It
Переглядів 12 тис.11 місяців тому
I've had quite a few questions on how to tell a real from counterfeit 11 speed Shimano chain. I've come up with 5 consistent, easy ways to tell if a chain is fake (Plus a few extra) without even opening the plastic bag, so if you discover you received a fake, you can hopefully send it back for a return! #1 - The HG-EV text on the front of the box is very blocky and doesn't match the text of HG-...

How To Tell If Bicycle Brake Pads And Rotors Are Worn
Переглядів 1,6 тис.Рік тому
In this video, I run through the process I like to use for measuring Shimano and SRAM Brake rotors and pads to determine when they need to be replaced. I also give a few tool recommendations on getting the most accurate measurements, as well as getting the most bang for your buck for said tools (If that's important to you. Lots of home mechanics are more into displaying name brand tools on thei...

Cool! This worked to give me access to my middle 3 gears immediately! It would only move the chain on the smallest 3 gears, and now I'll repeat and hopefully get the top 3! Thank you!

Showem again Joey
Great video....well delivered, clear, concise instruction/explanations...good camera angles & lighting...but most importantly, well spoken and explained in an easy to understand manner.. Great job! Thanks
Bro me salvo la vida 😭
ok
Bro ty so much i thoght i broke the seat and i coudlent find any video until this +1 subscriber
Any value to heating it up a bit first? I'm guessing you aren't going to just send it on a 30 foot jump on this rim
Great video. I did everything except the hot water soak to reduce chance of corrosion. Saved me from having to buy a new one. Don’t be lazy. Unmount and place on another pipe like in the video. It will save you time. A friend told me this.
Great video,What would you recomend for hub dimensions for old Peugeot aubisque from 90s Thank you so much
good video...but maybe do a redo with a decent mic. the audio is ear piercing, but great info bro.
Little Joe Washington. One of the most Underrated RB's in NFL History.😎
Great video, this fixed my shifter in no time
I've got 2 counterfit chains then (ebay), I'll return them. Should have known really, the price was a bit too hard to believe. I got one for a good price on halfords and I remember the quick link was in a separate bag, so it must have been real, halfords wouldn't sell counterfit stuff anyway I'd imagine.
I’ve done similar, except use a ratchet strap to keep one of the cranks secure to the chainstay in place of the park frame tool you use. Same thought process to provide opposing torque.
Wow, that wheel is truly singing and dancing. Mine are too... but they're also screaming at me for running them into potholes, horrendous gaps and curbs. Glad I come to the right video to creat harmonies. 😂
I promise you! You saved me, on GOD - yeah that. Damn cuz I thank you very much..... Frfr
Thanks for sharing this tip. It worked perfectly for me ... once I figured out the one thing you did but didn't say - the quick link MUST be above the chainstay. It's obvious once you think about it, but if you're dumb (like me), you'll smack the pedal with the quick link below the chainstay a few times before you figure it out. LOL.
I had the same problem 😀
Thanks pal 😊 saved up my brother bike on this explanation
Thanks, but it would be nice if someone could include how to get the gs100 off the handle bar...
Not all heroes wear capes!!!
@JB I was so happy when my football team got this dude cause I very much remember this game 1st Monday night game or second after school had started back for us and we fellas always talk about sports

I needed to pump my shrader tires as they were deflating. I pumped the front to max and then the back. 3 days later the back tube is completely flat and no longer wants to pump and doesn't seem like the nipple thing is holding pressure. Did I break the tube?
Possibly. The only way to find out is to remove the tire and inspect the tube.
Mine had a piece of plastic that broke off from screw shaft blocking the shift action. Still needed lube.
Thank you 💯
You're welcome!
Where do you get the compression screw thing to get the cap off?
This is the one Park Tool makes that I used in the video, but there are less expensive options though... amzn.to/4bcoZHX
@@JoeyMesa ooh thank you
i meant the coil feels loose. thank you. I am a woman and cannot figure it out. All the other parts seem fine
HI there thank you for showing the whole process. But my leash's coil doesn't work (cannot pull the leash back). Did I miss a part during opening?
Sounds like the singer from modest mouse when he talks
I am trying that tomorrow for sure. Thanks for the idea
Watching this video 2 weeks after giving up on that crappy technology and embacing the one I have on my seatpost. These guts have 8 pieces and 16 ways to mount them incorrectly. And, after all the trouble, the saddle's nose will wiggle unless you had the luck of buying some better quality product.
Looks easy but.…. didn't work doing this so I end up buying a pliers
Great video and demonstration; thank you for creating this and showing the informative details.
My pleasure!

Got stuck in high chain ring and this is my first vid, glad to see others had some luck. Id rather keep a 1991 group set shifting butter smooth in 2024 than to buy new. Ty!

Hello, great video! I’m interested in buying this bed, but I see it can be purchased with two different slatted bed bases (Luröy and Lönset). I noticed you have the Lönset in the video. Would you recommend it? Also, could you let me know what type of mattress you used? There are many options at IKEA, and I’d like to get an idea. Thanks a lot! 😊
Thanks! We originally planned on going with the Luroy slats, but IKEA was out of stock when we purchased the bed frame. The Lonset is a bit more expensive, but we’re happy with it. We went with a local company in Colorado called Bella Sera that makes mattresses from organic materials. We got the Nove 3 model. They’re pretty heavy and somewhat pricey, but we love it! We layed on/tested out lots of different options, which is what I’d suggest. We’re still very happy with the bed overall though!
Thanks for posting! Excellent instructions! Thanks for the tips
Glad it was helpful, and you’re welcome!
